Some software platforms like VitalSource require pop-ups to appear in your browser.  If you find you cannot open the course texts via Blackboard, you should try enabling popups. Below you will find instructions on how to enable pop ups in each browser and on different devices.
 
To enable pop ups in Google Chrome

  • Click the ‘Menu’ on the browser toolbar
  • Select ‘Settings’
  • Click ‘Show Advanced Settings’
  • In the ‘Privacy’ section, click the ‘Content Settings’ button
  • In the ‘Pop-Ups’ section, select ‘Allow all sites to show pop-ups’
  • You can customise permissions for specific websites by clicking ‘Manage Exceptions’

 

To enable pop ups in Firefox

  • Press the ‘Alt’ button on your keyboard
  • Click on ‘Tools’ in the menu, and then click on ‘Options’
  • Click the ‘Content’ tab
  • Uncheck ‘Block Pop-Up Windows’

 

To enable pop ups in Internet Explorer

  • Press the ‘Alt’ button on your keyboard
  • Click on ‘Tools’ in the menu
  • Click ‘Pop-up Blocker’
  • Click on ‘Turn on Pop-Up Blocker’
  • Click ‘Yes’

 

To enable pop ups in Safari

  • Click on the ‘Safari’ menu
  • Choose ‘Preferences’
  • Click the ‘Security’ tab
  • Uncheck ‘Block Pop-Up Windows’

 

To enable pop ups on your iPhone or iPad

  • Open the ‘Settings’ menu
  • Tap the ‘Safari’ tab on the ‘Settings’ page
  • Scroll down to ‘Security’
  • Slide ‘Block Pop-Ups’ to the ‘Off’ position

 

To enable pop ups on your Android Device

  • Go to ‘Browser’
  • Click the ‘Menu’ button
  • Click ‘More’
  • Go to ‘Settings’
  • Uncheck ‘Block Pop-Up Windows’
